Angela Nankabirwa is an aquatic ecologist with expertise in both marine and freshwater ecology. Her main focus is on studying the impact of Harmful Algal Blooms on fisheries in the Great Lakes of Africa. She credits the multidisciplinary Oceans and Lakes program for introducing her to new scientific perspectives and providing her with a clear career direction. Angela believes in the importance of preparation and hard work, as emphasized by her mentor, Professor Dirk Verschuren. The Oceans and Lakes program not only offers an exceptional team of professors and tutors but also fosters a multidisciplinary approach, which Angela finds inspiring. She values the multicultural interactions that the program provides, as they have helped her build a network of friends with whom she can discuss research ideas and explore new opportunities.
